Silchar, June 29 : After having seen the damage that police brutality has caused in Tamil Nadu a few days back, today, we see the same cause behind the plight of two Covid19 warriors, in our own “Island of Peace”. Md.Abdul Kahdil Laskar and Md. Abdul Sartaj, are two final year students of SMCH who had extended their services to the Hospital, taking under consideration, the current situation of the country.
The students were asked to attend an emergency meeting at around 12:30p.m. Subsequently, on the way to their hostel, they came across a police barricade within the campus. The security there was, supposedly, instructed to allow every medical staff to enter the gate. But the students were defied access to the campus even after having showed their ID Cards. After which, one of them tried to make a call to the police in-charge, while a CISF personnel, tried to damage his phone and in the process, injured his wrist severely. Somehow escaping the scene, after being beaten up, the students were headed towards the Principal’s Office, when their way was blocled by the police and the students were falsely accused of ill-treatment towards the CISF. When the students demanded an apology, it was blatantly refused and the Sub-Inspector tried to persuade them into closing the case.
The medical staff has united to demand justice for them and has a raised an even important question of safety while working for the nation.
