SILCHAR: Former Congress minister and now a BJP leader Gautam Roy, who has been the cynosure of political pundits amid speculations about him getting the BJP’s ticket to contest in Katigorah Assembly seat in the 2021 elecion, has “set up his new home” at Brahmangram, Kalain under Katigorah Assembly constituency in Cachar district. The move by the veteran politician has apparently made the political climate in Katigorah “very hot” and gossips are making the rounds that the BJP is going to give Roy the ticket to contest in Katigorah for sure.
Sources said Roy, who had been carrying out his poll-related activities from a lodge in Hailakandi district’s Panchgram for the past couple of months, went to his new address (a rented home) at Brahmangram, Kalain on Sunday. He will continue all his poll-related works from this place, sources said.
A large number of people of Katigorah went to the house to meet Roy. The former Congress minister discussed about various issues with them and sought their support in the upcoming election, sources said.
Another source said Roy’s decision to come to Kalain, Kathigorah and carry out his poll-related activities has brought a twist in the political scenario of Katigorah and speculations are being made that Roy is getting the ticket from the BJP in the next election.
