Meeting held between Assam and Mizoram Home Secretaries in order to restore peace in the border conflict.

On Wednesday morning, a meeting was held between the Home Secretaries of Assam and Mizoram for resolving the ruckus that was created in the border attack. The meeting was held at an Army Camp near Lailapur along the interstate boundaries where the Home Secretaries were led by a team of officials from Assam and Mizoram to resolve the issues in order to bring back peace in the particular areas.

Both the sides held the meeting in a coordial manner with the intention of maintainhing peace and agreed to have coordination and interaction once in a month at the DC’s level, SP’s level and DFO level to avoid any further controversy.

At Lailapur Beat Office, Assam Home Secretary Gyanendra Dev Tripathi said to the media, “The meeting was held in coordial atmosphere and resolved to bring back peace and normalcy in the troubled areas. Assam has asked Mizoram to withdraw its forces.”

On the other hand, Mizoram Home Secretary Lalbiaksang said that, “Mizoram Government will ensure security to the truckers coming from Assam side. It is requested that the Assam Government starts the movement of stranded vehicles.”

Representation from Assam’s side were Home Secretary Tripathi and Special DGP border, DC Karimganj Keerthi Jalli, M. Ambumathan DIG Southern Range, Dilip Kumar Dey SP Cachar, BL Meena SP Karimganj, Mayank Kumar DFO Cachar, Sunny Deo Choudhury DFO Karimganj, Md. Jalnur Ali and Chiranjeev P. Jain IFS(P).

Mizoram side was represented by Home Secretary Lalbiaksang, IGP, LH Shanliana DIG, Lalbiakthanga Khangte OSD cum DC Home, David L. Lalthangliana and DC, Kolasib, Dr. H Lalthlangliana.

The banners that were displayed in the public places got removed and is urged by Meghalaya Police to cooperate for the maintenance of peace hereafter.
