Cachar Paper Mill and Nagaon Paper Mill run by the Hindustan Paper Corporations has non-functional since 20 October, 2015 and 13 March 2017 respectively. The employees are deprived of getting their salary since the last 45 months. On this pandemic, the situation has costed several lives due to lack of financial stability. The employees of the two HPC are experiencing death one by one, causing a sense of worry.
Among these, Tayab Ali Laskar (aged 59) took his final breath at his residence in Chiporsangan Part-1, on 16th October, around 4:45 am. Laskar was suffering from partial paralysis followed by cerebral stroke. He couldn’t afford his treatment due to lack of money as no salary was given since 45 months. His family members are broken as they could not help Tayab due to lack of money and said “Living without salary for such a long time has ma our life miserable.”
Upto 74 deaths including 3 suicides happened due to the HPC defunct.
