Durga Puja is one of the biggest festivals of India where the entire country unites to celebrate their happiness among each other. But 2020 had some plans. Due to the deadly pandemic, many people suffered with their buisness leading them to extreme losses.

One among them are the idol makers. The idol makers wait for the entire year for Durga Puja as this festival brings along blossoms in their work. Every year, many idols are prepared and crafted by them, and sold at amazing prices. But this year, due to SOPs the idol makers are doomed to an unimaginable situation. Many workers didn’t even get a single order, while many left the work for something voluntary.

The festival that brings along so much joy to everyone, came empty handed this time. Lately, a video of idol maker in a terrible condition went viral in social media and that’s when an NGO named “Serve the People” noticed the person’s miserable state. They came up with a financial support of Rs. 20000 towards the idol maker, Haridas Paul of Silchar.

Haridas on receiving the money was teary and wordless with an obvious sigh of relief.
On behalf of the NGO, Pritam Acharjee said that he was happy that he could and further urged people to support people in need.
