Frontline workers and above 60 to get vaccinated first for Covid-19.

On Tuesday, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state was asked to prepare for Covid-19 vaccination by the Centre, anytime between January and July next year.

Himanta Sarma said, “We have prioritized two category of recipients — frontline health workers and those above 60 years to administer the first dose. The vaccines will be from multiple sources like Russian-made and one being developed by Bharat Biotech.”

With the State Government, the Health Minister had several consultations through video conference to undertake vaccination which will be carried out with a mix of vaccines rather than a single one, between January and July 2021, as said by Sarma.
