Universities to be opened from November 1 : UGC

Due to the cancelled academic session for Covid-19 pandemic, the academia have lost a lot of time. Hence, according to the University Grant Commission, the delayed academic session for freshers in colleges and universities will be commenced from November 1. On the other hand, the winter break this year, the summer vacation in 2021 and other holidays would be curtailed to compensate for the loss that happened due to the pandemic.

The guidelines for the revision of academic calendar has been set up by an expect committee in regard to the Covid-19 which have been accepted by the UGC. According to the guidelines, universities have been recommended a six-day teaching and learning schedule every week.

According to the revised calendar, the admission process for first year students needs to be completed by October 31 and classes for the same should be commenced by November 1.

Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ tweeted,
“In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the Report of the Committee and approved the UGC Guidelines on Academic Calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21”

Universities and institutions have been shut due to the novel coronavirus, across the country, since March 16, 2020 to prevent the spread of the disease and to keep people secured and safe.
