Schools to re-open from September 21 : Assam Government

Schools are decided to be re-opened from 21st September by the Assam Government amidst the constant surge of covid-19 cases in the state. Although, the schools and colleges are getting re-opened only for the students studying in class 9, 10, 11 and 12 on an open basis and has issued guidelines and SOPs regarding the Covid-19 protocol for the reopening of state institutions.

As the guidelines state, students from class 9 to class 12 will be permitted to attend the schools and colleges, while other classes apart from the above mentioned will stay suspended. For the students of 9th and 12th standards, classes will be conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. While for the students of 10th and 11th standards, classes will be conducted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

As read by SOP, for every class, students will be divided into two batches with the intention of keeping the total number of pupils less than 20 in count. The first batch of students will be allotted to school from 9 AM to 12 AM whereas the second batch will start from 1 PM to 4 PM.

According to the order issued by the Principal Secretary, B Kalyan Chakravarthy, to the State Secondary Education, the SOPs issued for the recommencement of the schools will come to effect from 21st September, 2020 and shall remain effective till the next 15 days. The SOPs will be reformed after observing the situation for 15 days.
